Exactly Malcolm! That's why I added that very last bit. While self-promotion for somebody who's not an established author is important, one shouldn't lose track of the real goal - writing.

Great advice. Without sounding like a time-management guru, discipline here is important. It's not hard to get tangled up with so many blogs and blogging communities to check every day, that pretty soon one is spending more time chatting about everything and anything rather than doing paying work.

Thanks for the sound advice. I've written a novel about the struggles, challenges, and potential of public education in America. It is a not only intriguing, but socially relevant story, which focuses on the ambitions and frustrations of the main character, who with limitless options, embarks on the noble path fo educating middle school adolescents. He quickly becomes aware of the challenges and obstacles that curently litter the public education landscape. The plot contains more than a few strategically placed unexpected twists that should maintain the reader's interest throughout. I strive to leave the reader with a sense of time well invested in the reading of this story. A portion of my novel may be viewed online by contacting the publisher at www.Xlibris.com, clicking on their Bookstore link, then Searching by title, The Twilight's Last Gleaming On Public Education. Like you, I prefer small groups from whom meaningful feedback may be received. I believe the best endorsement is word of mouth from friend to friend, rather than mass marketing. I welcome comments regarding the continuing story of public education for consideration in later editions of my novel.
